Welcome

Overview

Welcome to the site where we will be archiving resources we find helpful and developing new resources for undergraduate students with no or little prior experience in programming or statistics.

Several of us meet once a week in the Biology Department Computer Lab (Wilson 214) to develop our skills with using this powerful program. Please feel free to join us.

Why R?

Meetings

Our summer meetings are scheduled for Thursday mornings at 10 am starting on 26 May and ending when whenever. We will meet in Wilson 214.

We will begin our first meeting by making certain that everyone has R, R Commander, and an editor (e.g., TINN-R for PC) installed on their laptops. We will then make certain that everyone knows how to get data files into R via R Commander and via the console (via the editor). We will also begin discussing the structure of data files. We will conclude by establishing a list of topics that we can work on this summer. If there is interest, we will follow some or all sessions with lunch at a local pub!
